Wirepas, a small company, intends to put its focus upon wireless connectivity and has purposefully built non-cellular 5G technology. The company says that this technology will eradicate most of the digital obstacles that are responsible for holding back proficient deployment and utilization of IoT networks.
Wirepas makes use of updated and well-stated technology for executing its development operations. They are using DECT-2020 New Record (NR) Standard, specified by European Telecommunication Standards Institute. This is destined to use a small portion of the unlicensed spectrum of 1.9GHz, that is assigned to DECT before 20 years.
Wirepas was also a major contributor to establish the DECT-2020 NR. Hence, the use of it is set to offer support for wireless IoT use cases. All the use cases that demand low-latency and reliable communications can be paired up with DECT-2020 NR.
The CEO of Tampere, A Finland-based Company, Teppo Hemia, said that there is an obvious gap in this technology, for which the enterprises should get affordable radio technology to adapt. Along with that, Hemia also said that the technology should be scalable and should not be controlled by the operators of cellular communications.
He further says that the new product, Wirepas Private 5G, will function upon the plug & play network topology. It is different from that of the cellular IoT models such as NB- IoT and LPWAN technologies, offered by the company, Sigfox.
Hemia also adds to his statement that, this new private 5G technology will definitely offer high performance but will demand more cost upon management and operations. Wirepas intends to streamline the use of 5G IoT on a larger scale. The company has paved the way for industries to adopt non-cellular 5G IoT solutions. The decentralized and license-free aspect of this technology or development is what will increase its demand.
Wirepas Private 5G intends to offer its services to the building management and smart metering application on an initial level. They can be used on smoke detectors, asset tracking, and emergency lighting.
The network availability will be on the scales within the next year. And, the company takes on the experience of an existing product to build new ones. The new product brought up by the company is Wirepas Massive, also known as Wirepas Mesh. It is a radio protocol that is free from all types of hardware. It is used for decentralized networking that supports heavy IIoT and IoT applications. The product uses a spectrum of 2.4 GHz, that has the potential of connecting over billions of devices.
VTT, Finnish Technical Research Center, used special devices for running some simulation tests. These simulation tests were implemented upon DECT-2020 NR, which resulted in positive facts of good power coverage and consumption potential. Moreover, the tests also said that this technology is capable of varying the user node densities. It is possible due to the use of dedicated mesh-network technology.
