In one of the latest surveys of the firm that was released on Wednesday, the company claimed that the IT leaders in the coming years would be looking for some internet-connected pet feeders, heart rate monitors, smart light bulbs, coffee machines, game consoles, gym equipment, and others on their networks.

The scenario has become quite more serious with the work-from-home model for employees. It is because there is a high chance that such employees might be risking their data authenticity by connecting the network with risky IoT gadgets or technologies.

The report also stated that remote workers should be very much concerned that the IoT devices can be vandalized. Moreover, they can also be used in order to access their network and work operations if the router usability is the same.

As a result, it can just allow the attackers to get into the corporate systems and breach the data to compromise operational efficiency. Everything that makes use of the same Wi-Fi network is liable to generate more risk. The enterprise team of IT experts needs to monitor the threats and device accessibility to networks.

As a result, it can be used in order to create a segmentation level for safeguarding remote employees. The latest report or survey raises a question to around 1900 IT experts across 18 different countries.

Out of 1800, 300 are from Canada itself! The other experts within the survey were from countries like the UK, US, Germany, France, Middle East, Netherlands, India, Taiwan, Japan, and others. As per the survey result, 37% of respondents strongly agreed, while 44% of the respondents partially agreed to the fact that the COVID pandemic has led to increased vulnerability risk with unsecured IoT devices being used over the business network of the organization.

When the survey result was narrowed down to just the Canadian respondents, around 36% of them strongly agreed, and 51% of them partially agreed to the argument.

The adaptation of IoT has become a strong business enabler in the present decade, said the country manager of Canada and Vice-President of Palo Alto Networks. He added that there are new security challenges that are being addressed at the moment. And, those challenges can be neutralized only if the employers and employees take the responsibility of protecting their dedicated networks, he added.

The remote workers need to consider using the IoT devices, which enables connectivity to the corporate networks through the home router. And this will be the first step towards enabling enterprise security towards using IoT devices for better operational outcomes.
