Most of the businesses that are operating with IoT are offering data and connectivity pipelines to the dedicated cloud services. These businesses have their prime focus on special features such as device provisioning, device management, data transfer, basic security, and container strategy.
Some of the businesses form different pre-built boards and are full of silicon. But most of the other businesses are starting with software development kits that are allowed for the customers to implement while choosing.
Mason is a Seattle startup that began its journey in 2015. In fact, this company intends to take the IoT platform to the next level by introducing OS, cloud route, and hardware entirety. The company then commenced with the ideal of building handheld devices and tablets that were running on Android.
The company has launched a wearable device that is apt for worker safety and health monitoring. The wearable device by Mason comes with a sensor for tracking people by GPS, gathering biometric data, checking the temperature, and doing many other things. In addition to that, it can still work as a watch.
This device by Mason also has a camera, and a Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 4100+ Chip, which is ideal for smartwatches. The thing that is notable in the Mason wearable and hardware is that they both run on Mason OS. It is a software platform that allows customers to run & manage the IoT applications upon the Mason Hardware.
There is a complete enterprise-friendly execution of this aspect. And it even allows developers to build an application or use an existing one, to run it over a consistent hardware version across the enterprise.
It means that, instead of relying upon different employee-owned devices, the company can seek gathering of data through the Mason tablets, wearables, handhelds and run their apps, without worrying about Android OS versions.
The company leases its hardware to the customers and charges a license fee for that of the OS. It offers additional services such as cellular connectivity and others. The CEO of the company, Nancy Xiao, is pretty much excited about her company’s potential of helping the logistics and healthcare sector, with its new device and hardware.
In the year 2018, the company leased its first device to customers. And now, it is planning on growing with this wearable concept, as the revenue increase was recorded to be over 67% in the previous year. The sales also increased for the company by 79%. The company has currently partnered with several IoT firms, such as Twilo, for connectivity.
But with partnership, there is immense competition as well, with firms such as Ayla Networks and Tuya. Currently, the company is all set with its modern approach and thought. Time will tell whether it works out or not!
