It can be now said that the IoT application or device designers now can easily boost up the system reliability across different IoT applications that run on low-voltage. Well, the reason behind this is the introduction of Essential Analog MAX1616. Developed by Maxim Integrated, MAX16162 is an advanced nano-power supply supervisor that supports error-free power-up. As per the company, this modern supervisor IC becomes the first of its kind to completely assert the system reset via power supply ramp. As a result, the users will not face the issues of low-voltage errors while powering up and will be able to deliver better system reliability.
It has been seen that a greater number of IoT devices and application designers have switched to microcontrollers, and the core voltage level is 1V. However, they are still utilizing the conventional supervisory ICs. But these a major reason behind unstable output. As a result, the systems become vulnerable to unstable power-up. When that happens, the MCU starts with an unexpected state along with wrong data and incorrect output. However, the new MAX16162 is designed and developed to resolve such issues. As per the manufacturer, the new model can effectively eliminate the error until the voltage reaches the right voltage limit. As this will eliminated the glitches, this will enhance the reliability of IoT systems, along with base stations, wearables, and more.

As per the listing, the ICs can be used for different applications such as tablets, e-readers, smartphones, portable accessories, low-voltage microprocessors and microcontrollers, and more.
This is a single channel and ultra-low current supervisory ICs. While monitoring the power supply, it can initiate a reset whenever the input voltage goes below the reset point. As per the listing, the device consumes around 825nA. So, it can offer better protection but it will not affect the limited power budget. The size of the device is 1.06mmx0.73mm, and that makes it around 23% smaller than the other products. The supported operating temperature range is -40-degree C to +125-degree C. So, it can be used in different industries. The new devices are available in 4-pin SOT32 and 4-bump WLP packages.
Essential Analog ICs deliver Maxim Integrated's advances in low-power single-function products to facilitate next-generation features in different applications as well as markets.

Elnaz Shayesteh from Maxim Integrated said that ICs functioning under 1V would offer amazing advantages for IoT proliferation. However, there are some reliability risks. The company has managed to develop the industry's first error-free low-voltage supervisory ICs, and using this; the system manufacturers can fix the errors that arise during the power-up of devices.
As per the report, the MAX16162 can be brought for USD 1.19. It may be noted that the company is quite famous for developing high-performance semiconductors for different applications.
