Recently, Qualcomm has debuted the LTE 9205 modern which has been specifically curated for the forthcoming Internet of Things services and products. The modem is said to support the groundbreaking next-gen 5G network.

The new IoT modem has a dimension of 14.7 x 15.3 mm whereas its predecessor, MDM 9206 had 21.8 x 19.2 mm. Moreover, one of the major highlights of the 9205 modem is that it will consume less energy like that of 70%. On the other hand, the cost of the separate components is on the verge of falling by almost 40%.

Qualcomm’s new 9205 LTE modem is based on the robust Cortex A7 processor. The modem also supports the real-time ThreadX OS as well as AliOs Things. By the looks of it, the modem offers better efficiency regarding the connectivity with the help of Cat M1 technology. It also comes with voice support and Cat-NB2 that allows the device manufacturers in optimizing both energy and cost of the devices.

The unification of these couple of technologies will add E-GPRS & it also extends support of 450MHz to maximum 2.1GHz frequency. 9205 LTE ranges towards twenty-three global bands. It will allow OEMs to develop the functioning of the products around the world. There are numerous global navigation systems which are present in Qualcomm 9205, such as Glonass, Galileo, BeiDou, and GPS.

On the other hand, there is also growing importance that comes from the Internet of Things on a broader worldwide level. The modem will play a vital role when 5G technology debuts all across the world. Qualcomm doesn’t want to lose out to other companies when it comes to modern 5G technology. By the looks of it, the new solution would also allow the company to grasp the new solution for the Internet of Things.
