IoT devices must address the security breaches

by | Jul 8, 2019 | IoT News

People who are working in the Information Technology market are well aware of the wide array of the prominence of IoT. The entirety of the IoT devices is that they are connected to the internet 24/7. On the other hand, these devices aren’t even end-users devices. IoT can be found in the HVAC controllers, DVR Systems, commercial cameras, water fountain, among others. Even the modern-day towel dispensers are using the fundamental principles of the Internet of Things devices.

These products sound great when people hear about them, but there is a significant drawback of this technology. Most of the Internet of Things devices scattered across the world have the worst of the security. Moreover, it is hard to upgrade these devices, and it is also incredibly hard to enhance and manage them.

Most of the companies that usually do not work alongside the Information Technology infrastructure are curating the Internet of Things devices. And this gives rise to a situation where the companies are completely unaware of the policies and procedures that most of the IT departments can cover.

When people work with the Internet of Things devices, they often ping IP addresses. Later, these companies would also get pong from the IP addresses origination from different companies. On the other hand, most of the companies that curate these connected devices do not have expertise in the potential prospect that IoT possesses. The companies then come up with ideas to build IoT devices with additional security policies.

It is also tough to manage the Internet of Things devices as there is a severe lack of security. There aren’t any social or centralized solution for building the Internet of Things. Also, upgradeability of the Internet of Things devices does not see the light of the day. As the IoT devices come with similar default credentials, they are subjected to a security breach in a single go. And this makes the Internet of Things devices extremely vulnerable.
