The SWAN II gateway combines the technologies Narrowband IoT and wireless M-Bus/ OMS.
Narrowband IoT (LTE Cat NB1) is a new energy- and cost-optimized mobile radio standard. In conjunction with the wireless M-Bus / OMS communication standard, it is suitable for a multitude of new applications, particularly in Smart Metering.
The battery operated gateway SWAN II directly links wireless M-Bus devices to the cellular network using the new LTE Cat NB1 technology and optionally supports the wired interfaces L-Bus, RS-485 or 2x Pulse. The OMS compliant wireless M-Bus interface supports mode S, T and C, frame formats A and B.
The cost-effective cellular radio solution with high coverage and deep building penetration makes SWAN II especially attractive for the submeter market. Due to its low power consumption, paired with a long life of approx. 10 years, the gateway is suitable as an alternative for the walk-by read-out of submeters. The gateway is also convenient for water shaft applications, which are difficult to access.
