AT&T’s IoT device gets the first CTIA Certification
The association of the wireless industry, CTIA says that it has officially agreed and approved the first device which comes right under its Cybersecurity Device Program for the Internet of Things. The device which has recently been approved is called HARMAN Spark. The Spark is a creation that comes from AT&T.
What most people might be wondering after this revelation is whether it is an IoT&T device. By the looks of it, HARMAN Spark acts as a conventional plug-in device that has the ability to turn any car that has been manufactured after 1996 into a wholly connected car.
According to the Senior Vice President as well as the Chief Technical Officer of CTIA, Tom Sawanobori, this has proved to be a milestone for the Internet of Things Cybersecurity Certification Program for CTIA. Sawanobori also said that as the world is moving towards a connected future, the authorized labs of CTIA IoT Cybersecurity Certification Program plays a crucial role to protect the consumers as well as the wireless networks.
The certification of CTIA verifies that the security of the devices is featured right against a set of all-around practices. The practices are based on; literally everything starting from the saving the information, security management and password of the consumers and ranges to the availability and standards of the over-the-air contraption meant for the security of the software.
The certification also makes sure that connected cars are protected from hackers. The concern is a very crucial one among the consumers who either drive a vehicle or share the roads they are traveling on with the connected cars. Ericsson made a prediction which says that the amount of cellular Internet of Things connections is going to reach 4.1 billion by the end of 2024. So, this might be the beginning of the new dawn.
